Bizarre own goal sets Vale Rec on way to the last 16

IT WAS a case of getting quickly out of the blocks as Vale Rec progressed into the third round of the Somerset Cup at the expense of Taunton Blackbrook.
The Corbet Field witnessed the yellows claim another scalp as two goals inside the first 21 minutes at the Corbet Field saw the tie under their control and safely negotiated through a tricky second half.
Taunton were very much a step up from Rec’s previous victims, Cutters Friday, but the yellows never looked under any real threat, even when Taunton were throwing more at them late on.
But as it was, the most bizarre strike imaginable opened the scoring with 17 minutes on the clock.
