Button undone by local quick men

Jon Greenfield.NOT many sportsmen in the world can claim to have beaten Jenson Button – but that is exactly what Jon Greenfield did yesterday as he won the opening duathlon race of the year.

Button, the 2009 Formula One world champion, has a property in Guernsey which he frequently uses, but this was his first outing in a local sporting event.

And he finished an impressive fifth against strong competition in an event that saw two two-mile runs sandwiched by a 12-mile cycle.

But it was Greenfield (pictured) who ran away with it, finishing in an impressive time of 56min.23sec. ahead of Matt Dorrian and Ian Scholes.

    I am glad to see that Jensen is fitting in to island sports scene, would love to watch him try sand racing. autocross, and even hill climbs. I am pleased also that he has time for the locals
