Laid-back pair look forward to world final
Tuesday 18th January 2011, 2:29PM GMT.
GUERNSEY bowls star Alison Merrien (pictured) will take a lead role in the Potters Holidays World Mixed Pairs Matchplay Championship final this afternoon.
In her partnership with Englishman Simon Skelton, the Sarnian has shown excellent form in their two victories – against defending champions Carol Ashby and Alex Marshall in the quarter-finals and then over Julie Forrest and Ian Bond on Sunday.
Those wins have set up a meeting with Ellen Falkner and Greg Harlow at 1pm today at Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton-on-Sea.
In both games so far, Merrien has been given full credit for setting the platform for victory by outplaying her opponent – and her commanding show against Forrest will fill her with confidence for Wednesday singles semi-final against the Scot.
