Chief has plan for new support unit

Patrick RiceTHE changes from a five-month review of Guernsey Police should start to be apparent from the end of the month.

The force’s new chief officer, Patrick Rice, pictured, has spent a large part of his time in the job to date analysing the operation and preparing changes that he said would ensure a value-for-money force with efficient use of resources.

‘None of this is about rationing access to police,’ he said.

The formation of an Operational Support Unit would bring benefits in many areas. A dedicated neighbourhood police team, led by an inspector, will have the remit to tackle antisocial behaviour and work with the parishes to identify and address their concerns.
