ALISON MERRIEN broke new ground and wrote another exciting chapter in her inspiring success story yesterday when she won a World Bowls Tour title for the first time at Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton-on-Sea, Norfolk.
Guernsey’s star bowler (pictured), ranked number three in the world by the sport’s outdoor governing body, teamed up with Nottingham’s Simon Skelton to win the WBT world mixed pairs matchplay championship.
Merrien (pictured) and Skelton upstaged the favourites, City of Ely clubmates Ellen Falkner and Greg Harlow, winning a high quality, nail-biting final on a best-of-three-ends tiebreak, 5-7, 8-7, 2-0.
