NEWS that a dog was strangled to death while in the care of a local pet groomer led one owner to relive the moment her pet nearly met the same fate.

Diane Marriott said that an incident involving her dog nearly four years ago could explain how a golden retriever died two days before Christmas.

She claims that after her chocolate Labrador, Paris, was washed by a 24-7 Petcare employee in the business’s grooming van, the eight-year-old dog collapsed at her feet, unable to breathe. On inspection she said she found a grooming noose secured tightly around her neck.

But 24-7 co-owner Jessica Valpied said she had no record or recollection of the owner ever using the firm’s services.

The ALLEGED incident happened nearly 4 years ago yet only now does she choose to make it public – says a lot.

What is says to me is that rather than a genuine concern for animal welfare, this is more about joining the witch hunt and sticking the boot in when someone is down.

How many more people will crawl out of the woodwork with similar stories about how Fido nearly got killed by the evil monsters at 24/7?

For goodness sakes – rather than this contemptible tittle tattle get a proper investigation done and let that be the end of it.

Phil – Despite her history, all I would say is thanks to an as yet uninvestigated incident, Ms Valpied is an easy target for allegations.

Truth be told, thanks to the recent front page article I reckon I could contact the local media with a story about how my dog was nearly throttled by 24/7 3 years ago and they’d report it. I also reckon a significant number of people would believe me, even though I’d have absolutely no supporting evidence and have never actually used their grooming service.

I agree with you if something like that happened to my dog I would not of waited 3 years until another incident happened and then say blah blah blah…

Perhaps this person didnt “squeal” initially because she thought maybe 24/7 would have learned from its mistakes and that seeing as her dog didnt die, it wasnt news worthy (particularly apt seeing as people were bleating that a dead dog wasnt front page news the other day).

Maybe now she thought “enough is enough, people need to know that the death wasnt an isolated incident for this particular business”.

I have my own tale of woe about 24/7 which I wont bore you with but at the time I didnt really see the point in taking it to the press because my dogs lives werent threatened (only thanks to my neighbour though). I had my dispute with JV, I wasnt charged for her services and assuming it was isolated I left it there.

I would image there are many such incidents.

    Your point??

Although I doubt you have one, or are you going to try to defend the indefensible like you are on the other thread???

    Laughable really!
