THE incomparable Alison Merrien has clinched a place in the final of the World Bowls Tour women’s matchplay singles championship at Potters Leisure Resort in Norfolk – for the third year running.

Carrying on from where she left off on Tuesday, when she partnered Simon Skelton to the world indoor mixed pairs title, the super Sarnian hit top form to inflict an emphatic 8-3, 9-1 defeat on Scottish champion Julie Forrest yesterday.

No-one could have predicted that scoreline and a tight game was in prospect when both players produced opening deliveries of the highest quality.

But it was Forrest who seemed to have the edge over the first three ends, scoring two singles, and the Scot looked likely to add to her score when she built up a favourable position on the third end.
