TIEA is latest tie with Canada

CANADA yesterday became the 21st country to sign a Tax Information Exchange Agreement with Guernsey.
High Commissioner James Wright put pen to paper at a noon meeting with Chief Minister Lyndon Trott.
Mr Wright (pictured) said the TIEA could encourage more Canadian business to come to the island.
‘It’s not just important in terms of transparency and accountancy practices between Canada and Guernsey, and fulfilling our commitment to fight tax evasion, but it opens the door for other Canadians to look favourably at investment opportunities here,’ he said.
