WINNING the Mourant Ozannes ArtPrize has acted as a catalyst for a woman to start producing fine art pieces again.
Liesja Grut’s picture, Ben, was chosen from 12 finalists whose work was displayed at the airport over the Christmas period.
Miss Grut, 29, said she only entered her picture, which shows a child’s face superimposed on an old map of Guernsey, at the last minute after her brother told her about the competition.
‘It is so lovely to have people be interested in your work and you also feel it is worthwhile to be doing it rather than a waste of time.’
