THE Muratti Vase has been melted down for scrap.
It’s true and, no, we have not jumped forward 10 weeks to April Fool’s Day. It has happened. Not here, but in deepest Lincolnshire after a long search to retrieve it.
Hold on, you might be thinking, it wasn’t lost.
But it was, you see, and the confusion stems from the fact that the 106-year-old trophy that Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney contest annually, was not the only Muratti Vase.
