A BRILLIANT clearance of 112 was the highlight of a fourth Individual Snooker League title for Martyn Desperques, held at the Gremlin Club on Saturday night.

Desperques’ name is the only one on the Peter Colley Shield since the competition was introduced and while a 5-1 success will go down in the record books as the most comfortable margin yet, opponent Paul Le Sauvage put up a fight worthy of more success.

Desperques’ second ton in a week came with him already holding a 2-0 lead, although Le Sauvage should have squared the match having had a shot on frame-ball pink to the centre pocket.

The opening two frames failed to produce much fluency, bar Desperques’ 42 break in the second, but a rapid century in less than 10 minutes was near perfection.
