College breaks Grammar’s Youth Speaks stranglehold

COLLEGE boys have broken the Grammar School’s three-year unbeaten run in the Youth Speaks competition
The Rotary Club of Guernsey event at St James saw secondary-school teams of three discuss thought-provoking issues – such as why it is important to recapture your childhood and how the paparazzi culture can hurt celebrities – in front of a panel of judges.
In the end, Elizabeth College came out on top with a discussion exploring the misconceptions surrounding low and high culture, which saw the boys crowned both senior champions and overall competition winners.
But chairman of the judging panel, the Rev. Graeme Beebee, said that all students could leave with their heads held high.
