A SERVICE to remember the victims of the Holocaust was held at the White Rock yesterday.

About 25 people attended the ceremony led by Senior Vice-Dean of Guernsey the Rev. Andrew Sharp to mark National Holocaust Memorial Day.

The service was held next to the plaque which commemorates the three Jewish women who were deported from Guernsey during the Occupation.

‘In particular, we remember the women who died in Auschwitz – Auguste Spitz, Marianne Grunfeld and Therese Steiner.

‘We remember all whose lives were taken from them because of the violence and hatred which afflicts the children of God and of which we are all capable,’ said Mr Sharp during the service.
