Man dies in Church Square roof plunge

A MANĀ  died after falling from a roof in Church Square last night.

He is thought to have lived in the area and is understood to have fallen from above The Paper Box newsagent.

Police were called at 10.10pm and the square remained cordoned off this morning and was being monitored by Civil Protection Volunteers. Police said the area would be reopened as soon as was practically possible but not before 8am at the earliest.

* The man was named this afternoon as 41-year-oldĀ  Steven Hemery.

* Police are appealing to anybody who was in the area, or who might have information that could help the inquiry, to contact them on 725111.
