Maunder struts his stuff to beat Mersey talent

TOM MAUNDER produced another bout-of-the-night victory to underline his great potential at St Pierre Park.

Maunder needed to be at his best to beat the superbly balanced and skilful Justin Beacall from Liverpool, but the junior welterweight stepped up to the mark and did so with a hint of arrogance.

On an evening when the number of projected bouts was cut by four to just eight and the visiting Merseysiders proved tough and very challenging, Maunder’s efforts brought a smile to Graham Guilbert’s face.

‘He has come on a bundle,’ said Guilbert. ‘He boxed better than when he chinned the two-times ABA champion.’
