‘GOOD to the core. Steve was a friend to so many.’

Those were among tributes paid to 41-year-old Steve Hemery, who died late on Thursday after falling from a roof in Church Square.

The jeweller and silversmith and dad-of-one was understood to have been on the roof of a friend’s flat above The Paper Box newsagents on Thursday evening at around 10.10pm.

Friends Donna and Reg Regan said anyone who met Steve, either here or when he was on his travels, would be his friend – and he had many.
