Evacuation work sees pair named as ambassadors

COMMEMORATING the 70th anniversary of the evacuation before the island’s Occupation led to evacuee Joan Ozanne and researcher Gillian Mawson crowned Guiton Ambassadors of the Year.
The award, which is given to people who have brought credit and recognition to Guernsey, honoured the pair’s efforts to reconnect historical facts of the event, resulting in visits to the island by the Bishop of Stockport and seven UK mayors from regions to where Guernsey people had been evacuated to.
Mrs Ozanne said she was delighted to have won the award.
Manchester University researcher Mrs Mawson said she was honoured to be at the event.
