CAMPAIGNERS for a permanent skatepark have so far received commitments in excess of £50,000.

The Guernsey Xtreme Sports Association launched the Get On Board campaign at the end of last year with the Guernsey Press as media partner.

It needs to raise £200,000 so that plans for a skatepark at Beau Sejour can finally be made a reality.

Skaters and riders have been campaigning for a permanent park for 30 years.

Association chairman Deputy Mike O’Hara said he was overwhelmed by the support from islanders so far.
