Redevelopment of care homes will mean upheaval for 20 States tenants
Tuesday 8th February 2011, 2:29PM GMT.
PLANS to redevelop two taxpayer-funded care homes will result in the rehousing of more than 20 States Housing tenants while the work is carried out.
The Housing Department revealed yesterday that for the modern units to be built at Longue Rue House and Maison Maritaine (pictured), extra space would be needed for the work to begin.
This has also led to the department confirming that Maison Le Clement, an ageing property comprising 16 bedsits and two one-bedroomed flats, which is next to Maison Maritaine and currently home to seven tenants, would also be demolished, along with the four Courtil Le Clement properties that sit nearest to the residential home.
Other properties earmarked for redevelopment in the vicinity of Maison Maritaine are Les Granges, which provides four one-bed flats, the Vale Rectory, which consists of four one-bed flats and one two-bed flat, and the rest of Courtil Le Clement, an estate comprising 13 bungalows and 10 houses.
