WHEN Paul Davies removed an earth bank at the edge of his driveway, he thought he was improving the area.

However, the move forced him to argue his case before a planning appeal tribunal at Les Cotils yesterday after retrospective planning permission was refused.

Mr Davies bought his home in Route de la Hougue du Pommier in 2008, and permission was given for alterations to the house and driveway.

However, he did not have permission to remove the bank. He also doubled the permitted width of his driveway.

Planning control services director Jim Rowles said the bank was an important part of the character of the area, and matched others in the north.
