CROATIA were the latest nation to fall victim to Heather Watson’s winning streak as Great Britain ended their Fed Cup week on a high in Eilat, Israel.

After defeating Denmark dramatically last week, the weekend saw Britain fighting for fifth position in Europe/Africa Zone Group One, having already been assured of playing at the same level in 2012.

Elena Baltacha returned from injury, but the opening rubber against the Croats was still trusted to Watson, who made no mistake, defeating Silvia Njiric 6-2,7-5.

After Baltacha had followed that up with a straight-sets victory over Ajla Tomljanovic, it meant that fifth place was assured and there was no need for the doubles rubber at the end.
