LAST year turned out to be a good one for both Peter Frise of the Guernsey Sea Angling Club and Mike Weysom of the Guernsey Mullet Club.

The Mullet Club was formed by a few mullet enthusiasts back in 1984 when Weysom became the secretary/treasurer – a post he still holds.

Club members fish for three species of mullet – thick-lipped, thin-lipped and golden grey – which are all found in local waters.

Little did Weysom realise that what had started as a day’s fishing with his father in the late 1950s would turn into the passion of his life.
