NSPCC closure: each side says the other was hostile

THE NSPCC went above and beyond what was required when offering its Guernsey staff a redundancy package, an employment tribunal heard yesterday.

Representing the society, lawyer David Christie said there was no statutory requirement to offer local employees redundancy pay.

‘There was no entitlement to do it but they were granted a generous payment by the society,’ he said.

Rosalyn Priaulx had been office manager at the NSPCC since 2004. She is one of four former employees taking the society to an employment tribunal for unfair dismissal.

‘Redundancy is quite scary at my age, especially given the current economic climate,’ said Mrs Priaulx, who worked part-time.
