AN EXTENDED road closure has left bathing pool users frustrated, forcing the group to use ‘filthy’ changing facilities for longer.

The Wet Swimmers group, which meets daily at 9am at La Vallette bathing pools, had to switch from the Ladies’ to the Gents’ Pool when part of the road that runs alongside the two seawater enclosures was closed.

The department said the road would open again on 10 April, with work on the rock face set to start on Monday 21 February.

That was not welcome news for the swimmers who have been unable to access their normal facilities at the Ladies’ Pool.

It’s easy enough to move the sign, or just walk along the rocks to the ladies pool from the gents.

Seems to be enough people there to clean it up
themselves. Always leave it to someone else seems
to be the attitude these days.

    Eh

Le Andrew – doesn’t matter how many times you clean the place up, it still ends up filled with empty alcohol cans & bottles and used condoms! Especially in the summer months. Not nice! It is a known haunt for youngsters to hang out and get up to the things they are not legally old enough to be doing.

I think it’s fantastic that this group of swimmers are out there in all weathers throughout the winter swimming in our God given ocean. My gosh, what an excellent reputation this gives Guernsey! Keep it up swimmers, and may your ranks grow! And do continue to press continously for better kept facilities down at the pool. It’s shameful that the States are not looking after the pool area as they should. What about installing a solid – and I do mean solid – door with lock to keep out the slobs. Then give the key to this group that brave the weather to stay healthy and out of hospital by swimming in the salt briny. As for you @Le Andrew? Well, I just have to shake my head. Bet your a non-stop TV watcher.
