Guernsey’s ‘Tyke’ gets his spoils

MIKE KINDER has been honoured by the ECB and Sky Sports with the ‘Outstanding Contribution and Services to Cricket Coaching Award’.
The announcement of the three Sky Sports Coach Awards for 2011 came recently, with Kinder being noticed for the work he has put in during a spell of over 25 years in Guernsey and, before that, Yorkshire cricket.
Kinder (pictured) admits it came as something of a pleasant surprise, having arrived in the island in 1983.
‘It is nice to be recognised really for what we have done for a long period of time,’ he said.
