A HIGH-PROFILE policing day took place yesterday in an effort to ease problems on the roads.

Speed checks were carried out, mainly in approach roads to schools, vehicles were examined for defects and illegal parking that worsened congestion on roads leading to Town was monitored.

Acting Sergeant Sacha Yabsley was carrying out speed checks in the road outside Forest Primary School.

‘These activities take place on other days too, but this is about raising awareness and focusing more heavily on particular problems for one day,’ he said.

Easy money. Catching criminals in town is much harder, with little money.

    Mr G:

The police make nothing out of either catching criminals in town, or people speeding. Think before you write GG, for all of our sakes.

If they put as much effort down the North Beach car park of an evening/night, they would catch enough speeders and generate enough income in fines to fill the ‘black hole’. I still can’t believe these antics are allowed to continue night after night this despite the fact that people have been killed by these morons speeding from the North Beach car park, where they congregate, to all points North and South. Still, the tourism season starts soon and with it the lighter evenings so more of these morons will be out and about contributing to the first imprseeion visitors get as they arrive off the ferries and/or berthing their own vessels in the QEII marina.
