The Turfs R Us truck in a Forest green lane yesterday afternoon. (Picture by Tom Tardif, 1097572)
POLICE are still looking for, but say they know they identity of, the driver of a truck which was left hanging over the edge of a narrow Forest green lane yesterday afternoon.
They believe it is the same driver who abandoned his 4×4 vehicle on L’Ancresse Common last week after apparently getting lost in fog.
The red tipper truck, from company Turfs R Us, had been driven down the lane, which is prohibited to vehicles, near Le Chene.
It had come off the muddy track and was hanging with its two driver’s side wheels almost off the ground.

Should’ve gone to Specsavers.
Can I please get my truck back….
Ha ha ha. He’s got to go for the hat trick and get a different truck stuck on a beach next.
I guess that`s one way to collect the turf.
Just a wild guess but was he bent on a little fly tipping
Report abuse
have the police tried checking the number plate? Just a thought they may not have covered and worth taking a break from handing out fixed penalty notices for over parking and follow up.
Why would he abandon the truck just because of fog? :-/
Report abuse
Dave:
Wow, you’re amazing. Why don’t you join the police and dish out quality advice like that all day long?
Read the story man, the Police know the driver’s identity.
Abandonned for fog! Can’t he be fined for ‘wasting police time’ ?
I don’t think the driver should be prosecuted.
A very minor matter and the embarrassment of this story is punishment enough for anyone.
Ray.
My thoughts too….

Franny Quinn is always wondering around this area, wasn’t he on the Radio talking about provision for removing abandoned vehicles, could he get a gang of Guernsey Boys from The Captains Hotel together, like wot the Rocky Gang did at Cobo ?
looks to me like an idiot with no regard for the island, it’s fragile rural environment or for other people who may want to share that countryside fairly. he has broken laws? then book him – it is obvious who he is.
may be swifty wants his truck back possibly he had it stolen .i’ll be bugged if my wagon is the third one this bloke nicks
Report abuse
Lost in fog my a***. More like night time rabbiting like they were at L’Ancresse.
Late night rabbiting? Don’t make me laugh. You need the landowner’s permission to hunt rabbits at night and I very much doubt that he had permission to do it on L’Ancresse and in Petit Bot. It’s nearly March too – shooters avoid hunting now because the females (does) are pregnant.
This idiot was probably ripping up the countryside by off-roading.
You surely wouldnt go rabbiting towing a trailer full of corrugated iron, would you?or did the fog around the airport descend so he lost his way!
Donkey’s Wotsits, I doubt he was off roading, a flat bed truck would be useless going up round those hills.
I tend to use my Toyota Prius for the Petit Bot hills, gets up them in no time and uses very little fuel.
Mr G – I agree entirely. A flat bed truck is useless – you just need to look at the photo to see that.
However, you are assuming that these vandals have some form of intellect.
