THOUGH unable to run Dale Garland still took a lot of positives from the GIAAC squad that competed at the Midland Counties Open.

Compared to the full house of the day before, the National Indoor Arena was relatively empty as the GIAAC mix of youth and experience got their first taste of indoor action.

The top performances came from converted middle-distance runner Michael Batiste and the exciting young sprinter, Eban Marsh.

The latter, just 15, produced two personal best performances in the under-17 200m and 400m.
