st peter port harbourTHE idea of raising £1.775m. more a year from the island’s harbours and airport is unrealistic, according to the Guernsey Commercial Ports Users Association.

The States made the direction in June after a borrowing proposal from Treasury and Resources was rejected.

The GCPUA said it was supporting a proposal from Public Services, due for discussion at the March meeting, to rescind the resolution and order the Treasury to look at other ways of raising money for the capital programme that would impact less on the wider economy.

The association also wants the Assembly to reject further PSD proposals to approve new service charges at the airport and harbours.
