FA Cup needs the ‘Socials’ and seeding

With the semi-final draw of this season’s competition pitting his side against Vale Rec, the tournament has failed to grab the public’s imagination as much as in previous years.

Cortez (pictured) believes that bringing the ‘social leagues’ back into the fold would allow that to happen, while he also thinks that full-scale league promotion and relegation could be more than just a pipedream.

‘What I would want is for the Saturday and Sunday leagues to re-affiliate with the GFA in time for next season,’ he said. ‘I know the GFA have done everything they can to make it happen and it would be a huge pity if any league ever fell to the ground.’
