Neighbours rally to help after tremors

NEIGHBOURS are rallying to support the mother-in-law of a local woman who ‘feared the worst’ when the earth shook.
Bronia Simpson, whose husband, Aaron, is from Christchurch, said that while they had made contact with his 66-year-old mother, May-Ling White, who lives in nearby suburb Bishopdale, it was still a worrying time.
‘She didn’t want to go outside and have a look at the damage because she was so shocked by what had happened,’ she said yesterday.
‘It was just too terrifying. She didn’t know when it was going to end. She said she was sitting in her chair, just waiting for a slab of the ceiling to come in on her.’
