A REDUCING cushion of spare capacity in the world’s oil supply is presenting opportunities to those investors thinking outside the box, an investment seminar audience has heard.

The Ashburton Guernsey investment briefing heard from Ashburton investment manager Richard Robinson , who gave an insight into some of the ‘guerilla’ strategies used in the firm’s European Equity Fund, which has enjoyed 29.5% growth over the past five years.

One of those strategies was targeting those businesses involved in oil exploration and production.

Mr Robinson (pictured) told the audience that because the spare capacity of oil the world was using to fall back on was reducing all the time, it meant oil giants were striving to meet this increased demand and was therefore leading to a greater and more regular amount of oil rig installations, both onshore and offshore.
