TALK of Britain not entering a table tennis team at next year’s Olympics, thus denying Alice Loveridge a possible spot in London, has stunned GTTA president Derek Webb.

‘It certainly surprises and worries me,’ said Webb yesterday after learning that the British Olympic Association are keeping the sport on tenterhooks on whether they will be allowed to compete at London 2012.

The BOA has confirmed they still have concerns about the sport being good enough to take part.

Andy Hunt, the BOA chief, said: ‘Sports need to demonstrate a credible performance in 2012 and a really compelling legacy plan.’
