Beaten Greens get so lucky

INJURY-HIT Guernsey got lucky after losing 24-10 at Old Reigatian on Saturday.
For while the Greens were crashing to their fourth defeat of the campaign, big rivals Guildford were unexpectedly losing to mid-table Effingham & Leatherhead.
‘It was a kind of bittersweet news having heard their result,’ admitted player-coach Jordan Reynolds (pictured), who was nonetheless unhappy with the Guernsey performance.
‘Seventy per cent of us were having the game of our lives, but the others didn’t want to be there,’ said Reynolds following a quite bizarre game in which the visitors trailed 17-0, had big forward Layton Batiste sin-binned, a 20min. injury stoppage and a game played on two pitches, one of them used twice.
