Havelet Bay anchor ‘dragged there by trawler’

A DIVER has dismissed speculation that a 12ft anchor found in Havelet Bay could have been used during the building of the Castle Emplacement.
Richard Keen revealed that the wrought iron piece was dragged into the bay by a fishing boat more than 25 years ago.
‘This trawler had been dragging nets off of St Martin’s Point and they had become tangled with the anchor,’ he said.
‘It was able to pull it into Havelet and me and a mate dived down and released it. We were going to go back for it, but we never did.’
