FRAUDSTER Nick Webber is to appeal against his five-year sentence for masterminding an online bank scam potentially totalling £18m., his barrister has confirmed.
Tyrone Smith, from 25, Bedford Row barrister’s chambers, said he would contest the length of the 19-year-old’s sentence because he believed the case was so unusual that there were no relevant sentencing guidelines.
‘We will appeal,’ he said. ‘In this particular case the crimes were committed by people so young that there are no real sentencing guidelines for this type of offending.
‘It’s an unusual case as well. People use credit cards fraudulently but setting up a website advising people on how to do it is very unusual.’
