ADAM SHORTO showed his class to win the Northern Trust Guernsey Snooker Open on Saturday.

The day-long event at the North British Legion Club saw 24 players enter the open draw format which saw island stars Martyn Desperques and John Skillett face off in the second round.

Skillett won that match 2-0, including a 70 break and subsequently reached the final, also dispatching of Darren Hughes and impressive surprise package Miles Plumley in the semi-finals.

His reward was a meeting with Shorto, who was in sparkling form in the early rounds, knocking in a century break of 106 against Martin Robert in the first frame and followed that up with a 76.
