Guernsey 13, Guildford 10
GUERNSEY have taken a huge step towards promotion from London Two South-West.
The Greens edged a nail-biting top-of-the-table clash with Guildford 13-10 on Saturday at Foote’s Lane in front of a crowd of more than 600, the final whistle going with the visitors just three metres from the Guernsey line pushing for a finale that would have broken Sarnian hearts.
Injured player-coach Jordan Reynolds saluted that whistle by raising his crutch in victory and there was no hiding his delight in the immediate aftermath.
‘I am really happy with that win,’ he said, with a touch of understatement. It was all about knuckling down – there was nothing fancy about that game, but we did what was needed.’

so … nick barton is a hero for deliberately, cynically, pulling down the maul in the last minute, yet is lauded as a hero?? yesterday i heard ‘rugger’ man john inverdale on radio 5 live rightly, but imperiously, slag off arsene wenger for the arsenal manager’s nonsense attack on uefa, thereby deflecting his (wenger’s) own manifest and constant failure to inspire his top flight football team. inverdale laid into wenger for not behaving like the noble sporting rugby folks do, for moaning, and for not taking the game in the true sporting fashion – i.e. taking defeat on the chin and keeping it all in perspective. yeah, right mr inverdale. rugby is as full of cheats, including pre-meditated violent offenders, as any other sport. wenger is not man enough to take responsibility for his own shortcomings, or his imperfect team, and the guernsey rugby captain is not man enough to admit that we won by a cheating ploy. imagine the boot on the other foot? listen … why should guernsey be proud of winning when we cheated? sport, at so many levels, now mirrors the non-sport of our dog eat dog, win at all costs, society. do me a favour and do not try to dress it up.

son of blah – what a stupid post which has little to do with the article, or the match. You clearly have no love, or understanding, of rugby, so why comment?
