Money launderer appeals against nine convictions

Tuesday 15th March 2011, 2:29PM GMT.

Royal Court buildingA COMPANY director is challenging his conviction on nine counts of money laundering.

Roger Taylor, 61, was jailed in January for two-and-a-half years for laundering $87,000 between October 2002 and April 2003.

In the Guernsey Court of Appeal yesterday his counsel, Advocate John Greenfield, argued that the prosecution’s refusal to disclose requested documents meant he had not been able to question witnesses properly during the trial.

He also contended that his client deserved an explanation about the legal procedure that was followed by the prosecution and investigators between 2002, when police first interviewed Taylor, and his arrest in December 2009.
