Elderly back an investigation into danger of crossing

ELDERLY islanders are concerned about the hazards posed by the pedestrian crossing at the end of New Road on the Bridge.
Those using it yesterday agreed it could pose problems and that Environment should investigate.
‘I’ve personally had no problems but I have a friend who tripped going across it, although that was a long time ago,’ said Florence Le Guilcher, 80. ‘It could be dangerous, particularly for the elderly.’
Agnes Scott, 87, sometimes has trouble when using the crossing.
‘You have to really look out for the edge of the pavement and take care,’ she said.
