Grow-your-own man loses shed battle
Friday 18th March 2011, 2:29PM GMT.

Roger Mancini
Mr Mancini (pictured) had until yesterday to remove the shed from his field in Rue Carey, St Peter’s.
He has previously vented his frustration at Environment, believing the law deprived people of the chance to grow their own produce.
He said he knew the day the shed had to come down was coming, but that did not mean he was any less annoyed.

Rules are rules
Anyway, a shed does not belong in a field, irrespective of who is trying to grow in it

pyer;
you are so right; have often wondered why cowsheds should be in a field.
Oh I see because of the cows, they eat grass, and that other shed is only for growing…
What a sorry state our Island has become with little dictators at every turn.
Hopefully they’ll all be rid of and we’ll
get people with grey matter inside the skulls instead of water.

And another thing – the picture appears to show a ride on mower on a trailer which I assume is being moved from the soon-to-be-no-more shed.
If that is the case, why does Mr Mancini need a ride on mower to grow a few vegetables?

Passed the site today, the trailer, mower and a HUGE pile of pallets are still in the field. How did you intend to grow anything Mr Mancicni? Field is full of trees, nicely mown lawn and a picnic bench. I suppose you need to have a picnic bench to watch the plants grow! Oh but sorry, NO veg has ever been grown!! PS maybe you are trying to compete with next doors field which equally looks like a bomb site akin to an inner city allotment. A disgrace to rural Guernsey.

The planners have got it spot on.
Mr Mancini comes across as the type to keep pushing his luck in the hope of achieving what’s deemed unacceptable using little by little techniques.
I’m sure somebody could offer him an allotment if his fingers need greening up. Has he placed an add in the GP enquiring about a plot?
I very much doubt it.

Oh! I see now after reading other comments and not just the headline,
I thought he was of the other persuasion and was trying to grow himself a partner secretly in a shed.
