AIR travel will be more expensive if an amendment to Public Services’ fund-raising plan for the ports succeeds.
Deputy Mark Dorey proposes a new runway development charge to raise £1.6m. of the £1.8m Public Services was instructed to generate from the island’s ports.
The department last month announced controversial proposals to generate £1m.
These included additional service charges at the harbour, increased mooring rates, and increased charges at St Sampson’s Harbour.
The amendment, which could see air passengers charged £1.73 per single journey, said the department should focus on the airport to raise the bulk of the £1.8m.

Why not come up with another solution the already expensive runway maintenance? It doesn’t cost £80 odd million to put some tarmac down.

Potentially more charges to fly.Fares between the islands are steep enough without extra fees being applied-as usual it’s down to Joe Public to bail out the States-why not charge more for the moorings-if you can afford one(or more)of the expensive boats, surely those people can pay more!
The cost of living has rocketed,but no,hold on, let’s stuff the public for more money!! Heaven forbid they’d ever go after any cash from the finance industry or big business which is why we are up the river without a paddle!!!!!!!!!!!!!
