A MOTHER and her 18-month-old child were taken to hospital yesterday after a two-car crash at the Longfrie crossroads.

All the emergency services attended the incident, which involved a VW Polo and an Audi Q5.

An 18-year-old man who was driving the Polo was also taken to hospital.

A spokesman for the Ambulance and Rescue Service said those involved had only minor injuries.

It is understood that Audi was spun twice in the collision that occurred at around 4.45pm.

A 35mph speed limit at that junction is ridiculous. It’s a blind junction with very poorly angled mirrors for joining traffic from Rue St Pierre/Route de Lihou. It was only a matter of time.
I hope everyone involved is ok and on the mend.

It’s one of our well known blackspots

Why don’t they do something about it such as improving the sight lines if that’s feasible?

The speed limit at a junction is zero. The yellow line thingy in the road isn’t the Hash House Harriers

Seasider. The speed limit there is 25mph. Shows how much attention you pay to road signs.

25 is fine. This juction is an accident black spot but how much slower do you expect people to go. The problem at this particular junction is that people seem to forget its a 25.

35mph is the maximum, not the minimum! Slow down what ever the speed limit happens to be eh!

SS if you had read the article in the GP it stated that it was one of the areas they were thinking of putting the speed limit up to 35 mph, shows how much you pay attention to the GP

SS is correct, the speed limit from the St Peters Cemetery to past the le riche is 25mph

I think the biggest issue that needs to be raised is mirrors at blind junctions. This one is very badly positioned but at least it has one.

I have been asking for a mirror to be replaced at a dangerous junction since it was removed a number of years ago with no luck. Supposedly the cost of a mirror is too high, so we all have to take our lives into our hands everytime we creep out into the road

SS: If you take a look at the recent proposed limit alterations, that whole section of road is to be increased to 35mph. And I would suggest it would take that speed to spin a car round twice.
