Planners accused of putting appearance before child safety

OUTRAGED parents say that planners have put appearances ahead of the safety of their children.
The Little Cottage Daycare at Les Petites Mielles, L’Islet, had put up a 1.5-metre fence after being told by the Health and Social Services Department Early Years Service that a higher fence would be more suitable.
But then the Environment Department told the owner of the nursery, Kristina Le Page, to take down the fence, so she applied retrospectively to install it.
The department has now rejected that application.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
Great example of joined up government. Told 2 contradicting instructions by 2 states departments. When will the deputies stop issueing unworkable instructions to their departments?

This item is strikingly similar to the recent one with Mr Mancini and his shed in a field
Someone takes a chance by not getting planning permission for an item that requires it. Retrospective permission gets turned down, so the person concerned gets straight on the ‘phone to the Press, hoping for sympathy from the readers
Not the best way to do things folks and no sympathy from me!

If the States solved problems to quickly many of them would not have jobs especially the Environment Department. So they like to make things as complicated as possible. It is also an attempt to make them look as if they have power and possibly more intelligent than us mere mortals. Unfortunately for them it has an opposite effect but they just cant see it. It shows they have no idea what they are doing or how to go about solving things using common sense. They really do not have a clue. Notice the word Retrospective again.

Pyer, that`s not a fair comparison. The nursery had been advised to put up a higher fence. Seems like a mix-up to me.

My doctor has advised me to do more swimming, but that does not mean I can squeeze a pool into my front garden without getting planning permission.
Furthermore when did advise given by the wonderfully named Health and Social Services Department Early Years Service come with planning permission as an add-on, just because it is another States Department?

Retrospective has crept in, as in a small way, it generates cash for the black hole. Every time Planning insist you apply for planning permission whether you are in the right or wrong you have to pay double the fee. And to Pyer’s comments most are not try to abuse the system. If you followed a lot of the cases highlighted, and a lot that are not, often the planning department is using double standards in implementing the laws.
