St Paul’s 0, St Martin’s 2
SECOND HALF goals from defender Jamie Dodd and midfielder Kieron Mahon capped a fine day for the visitors who deservedly won the Wheway Cup in the Springfield sunshine on Saturday afternoon.

It was a Guernsey club’s first Wheway triumph in seven years and the victors’ first since 1979. They fully deserved it.

St Paul’s, who lost Muratti squad goalkeeper Andrew Bird with the recurrence of a shoulder injury after 40 minutes, were second best throughout while creating only two chances of note.

St Paul’s certainly missed three of their regular midfield players out for varying reasons, while in attack they were unable to keep possession as St Martin’s closed them down quickly.
