Population report under scrutiny from WI members

Monday 28th March 2011, 2:29PM BST.

PopulationMEMBERS of the Women’s Institute raised some contentious issues at a special meeting to discuss the Population Policy Group’s consultation document.

After a presentation by director of population policy Natasha Keys those attending asked numerous questions about the housing rights given to locals and non-locals.

Bev Holliday commented that the States was going out of its way to ‘please a group of people to the detriment of others’.

Locals, another woman said were made to feel like ‘second-class citizens in their own homes’.

Locals, another woman said were made to feel like ‘second-class citizens in their own homes’.

I wonder if this lady could elaborate a little on this comment. She must have reasons for saying it? The only reason I ask is that I’m local and I don’t feel like that one bit.

Perhaps I’m too tolerant – although I confess that’s not an accusation I’m used to hearing….

Good point PLP. You are correct, this lady should step forward and explain herself, including through the services of this site.

“second-class citizens in their own homes”

This sounds like a phrase ripped straight from the sexism and equal rights propaganda of the mid-80′s, maybe the WI forgot to update their “were outraged” template.
