Architects hopeful as planning goes public

ARCHITECTS are cautiously optimistic about the prospect of open planning meetings.
Director at Create, chartered architect James Barker (pictured), said it was a positive move and showed that the department was continuing to make the planning process more accessible to islanders.
‘It will be interesting from our perspective because previously it has been done behind closed doors. It will be nice to see how things are dealt with.’
He said that recently there had also been increased communication from the department.

Voice For Victims
Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
Planning decisions are taken mostly at staff level. Controversial decisions on bigger schemes will be hammered out before public airing at official and unofficial sub committees. Anyone hoping to see actual decision making is going to be disappointed. They might of course see quite a few “Honeybill” rushes for the door if its in their parish close to the election.
