Fewer flights if airport fees go up

AN INDEPENDENT consultant has warned that Guernsey is likely to face a reduction in services and passenger numbers if proposed charges are imposed at the airport.
In a confidential document obtained by the Guernsey Press, York Aviation has issued an update to its 2009 report on the implications of airport pricing.
The release of the study comes as deputies prepare to debate today proposals to introduce a runway development charge – suggested as an amendment to Public Services’ report on raising additional income from the ports.
York Aviation looked at airports that had introduced such a fee in recent years – Newquay, Norwich and Blackpool.
‘In all cases, the introduction of such fees resulted in loss of services and a reduction in passengers handled,’ it said.

Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
If the proposed Airport works had stayed within a sustainable (and needed) level then there would be less need by the States to claw more from the Airport via charges.
Could end up with a very expensive Airport all shinny and extended with reduced business and a near empty terminal in the future. That would be costly in more ways than one.

It’s about time simple thinking is exercised within the states. Each service should be expected to wash its own face.
Over complicating things cost more money in the long run. Borrowing from Peter to pay Paul is not sustainable.
Those that use services will need to get use to paying a fair price.
Less than a couple of quid extra per passenger is not likely to put many off.
Simple fixed prices are the way forward. When booking a ticket the little charges mount up fast. Even the coolest customer can feel angry & slightly bitter by the time they have finished calculating & understanding everything that has been added onto the price.

We should have kept the old shack that was the previous terminal. Spent the money on the runway instead and dealt with the terminal sometime in the future when money wasn’t so tight.

Its always the same with the States over here. They mess it up then we Pay, and they wander why less and less people are voting for them. They do what they want and take no notice of the negativity they cause. They have ruined our Tourist industry over the past 20 years, and they keep on wanting to drive the nail in further.
Wouldnt it be nice if they showed a bit of care for there community and started doing what was best for it rather then just lining the pockets of the already lined.
Stop spending money on reviews that you dont use if they come out against you, Bring in Island wide voting so that none of your jobs are safe unless you do good for the local community and people like you and start remembering that not everyone in Guernsey wears a suit to work and gets stupidly big bonuses at the end of the year.
START REPRESENTING THE PEOPLES NEEDS FOR ONCE!!

Exactly, there is alternatives. Your car must be frugal too.
