Whether you are just starting out or are looking to change direction, the show is your opportunity to talk to those who are already in the career you aspire to be in.

Once again we are fortunate to have secured the support and partnership of The Sigma Group and Commerce and Employment. This has allowed us to maintain a quality careers event which continues to thrive, thanks to the generosity of the Guernsey business community which has given up time and money to help make the show a success. Our sincere thanks go out to all those who have helped to stage the show this year and in years gone by. Special thanks should also go to Geoff Martel, who did so much to make the show the key event it is today. We wish Geoff a long and happy retirement.

careers show 2010This year the spotlight will be on careers in the creative industries (see pages 18 and 19), with several key organisations joining together in order to highlight the increasing prominence of this sector within the local, national and global economies. The rest of the Sir John Loveridge Hall will be divided into several zones and a ‘States Village’ will provide all the information you need to know about working for your island. Elsewhere we have representatives from other large employment sectors including finance and retail.

The Armed Forces will be represented by the Royal Air Force and the Army. There is also the chance to talk to providers of education from basic skills to post-graduate courses in the Learning and Advice zone.

In the concourse will be a ‘Help’ zone which will host the Careers and Youth Services, Guernsey Work Experience, Guernsey Adult Literacy Project and a CV and application clinic which will be run by HR professionals.

Finally, do take the time to plan your time at the show and don’t be afraid to approach any of the organisations that are there. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We hope you enjoy the show.
