JACQUES EVANS recorded the first win of his boxing career on Monday as he impressively stopped the UK’s Ben Crawford in Bristol.
The fight was one of eight involving Guernsey boxers, who travelled to face a Western Counties Select team at a Dinner Boxing Show at the Royal Grand Hotel, with Guernsey narrowly losing out 5-3.
National ABA champion Gage Demore again showed his class in another win, while Daniel Kirk was the other successful Sarnian, although three of the five defeats were by the narrowest of split decision margins.
But it was Evans’ debut victory that was particularly impressive, Crawford’s corner throwing in the towel midway through the second after seeing their fighter subjected to a sustained barrage of punches that drew blood from the nose.
